Top five fitness tips to get your body summer ready

Top five fitness tips to get your body summer ready

2 Mins

If you’ve vowed to get into shape in time for summer but you need a little help, you’ve come to the right place. We asked personal trainer, James Donaldson of Newhaven’s David Lloyd gym to give us a few healthy pointers. He’s kept things nice and simple so you can take manageable steps towards achieving your goal.

1. Drop the cardio for the weights

Building more muscle equates to more calories being burnt on a daily basis, which in the end means more fat burn.

2. Eat more protein

Protein helps you stay fuller and aid muscle recovery.

3. It’s never too late to eat a carbohydrate

While sleeping your body is repairing and needs energy from carbohydrates to do so.

4. Drink more to lose more

Drinking more water helps boost your metabolism, cleanses your body of waste and acts as an appetite suppressant.

5. Sleep

Try and get at least 7-8 hours sleep per night.  Your body needs time to recover and re-energise.
