Andrew Mickel of Mactaggart & Mickel Homes
Andrew Mickel is a fourth generation family member and director with Mactaggart & Mickel Homes. Currently residing in Bearsden as part of ‘generation rent’ he is planning an imminent return to the property ladder in the West End of the city.
What do you look for in a property?
For me, it has to be adaptable for family life and offer space and flexibility of rooms.
If you were to move tomorrow, where would you move to?
West End all the way. I’ve lived there before and I enjoy the character of the place, the restaurants, cafes and eccentric shops.
The most under rated area in Glasgow?
The East End. It offers a range of great properties, old and new, with plenty of space and character within easy reach of the city centre. It’s definitely a place to watch for the future.
Tips for househunters?
Make sure you know what reports and approvals you need to have before you start looking for your new home, like an agreement in principle etc. Speak to family and friends and use free mortgage advisers to help navigate the unknown such as the range of government assisted packages you may be entitled to. By doing this you will be able to move quickly when you find your perfect home.
