Time for a buggy revamp

Laura Cully tries out the valet service at Edinburgh’s Buggy Repair Centre.

Words I never thought I’d say: “I’m taking the Bugaboo for a service and valet.” But after eight years of diligently travelling along sandy beaches and cobblestones, the Rolls Royce of the buggy world (IMO) had done its time in our household and was headed to pastures new for the arrival of a friend’s newborn. 

So in a bid to ensure she was at the top of her game, off she went to the Buggy Repair Centre in Stockbridge. The shop specialises in Maclaren and Bugaboo but Graeme (the buggy guru) tackles broken brakes, wonky wheels and crooked chassis from Stokke to Uppababy and everything in between. 

Three days later (you can hire a buggy from them while yours is out of action) I picked up a good-as-new version of my beloved Bugaboo - steam cleaned to within an inch of its life using environmentally friendly products, pumped up and ready to go.
