Q&A

Veganism is trending with a 350% increase in people making the swap over the last two years. What was the clincher for you?

I was never a fan of meat so grew up mostly vegetarian. I got into the gym and the whole fitness scene when I started uni. I also researched all about diet and nutrition and chose veganism. I shared my journey on Instagram and was constantly asked for the recipes which led to the creation of my blog, naturallystefanie.com.

What are your favourite vegan dishes?

I love a basic dinner of brown rice, teriyaki tofu and stir-fried greens in soy sauce. So basic and so vegan but wholesome, good food.

Don't go crazy making cauliflower pizzas or bean cake

The food scene in Glasgow is pretty eclectic. Where are your favourite spots for vegan food?

The Bah Mi sandwich and soup combo at Mono is to die for. If you want the best dessert, definitely try 13th note’s sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. And for a night out, I like Zizzi in Princes Square. You have to try the vegan Margherita pizza with a passion fruitini cocktail.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking of making the transition to veganism?

Don’t over-complicate things and try go crazy with making cauliflower pizzas or bean cake. Just stick to healthy whole foods to fuel your body with the right stuff.
