Secrets of a Personal Shopper
Whistles Personal Shopping Manager Aimee Whitehouse reveals all...
Style and fashion can be quite different.
If you have an idea of what suits you, it will always be relevant but it’s good to embrace change and find elements of new trends that can work for you.
Personal shopping is perfect for people who are time-poor or would just like a fresh perspective.
Whether you have a big event to attend or a lifestyle change coming up, like returning to work after maternity leave, we can help you create a capsule wardrobe or pick out some key outfits to update your current wardrobe. The idea is to make the shopping experience enjoyable and take the stress out of it.
As a stylist I’m totally led by the customer.
I can be there to advise, guide and be a cheerleader for things I think they look great in, but ultimately it has to work for the client and their lifestyle. If something feels risky, we break it down. Where will you be wearing it? What else can we team it with? Can we dress it up or down? I’m here to give my customer the confidence to wear something rather than convince them to buy it. And if they get home and it’s not right, we can always return it and find them something else.
Good coats, quality knitwear, premium shoes and bags are the pieces to invest in.
Timeless items that you can keep forever. Then you can update your wardrobe with new colours, prints and accessories to keep things fresh.
Accessories are very personal.
I’m pretty minimal in my approach to jewellery but never underestimate the power of a statement earring! It’s an easy way to dress up any outfit.
The big trend we’re seeing for the new season is exaggerated sleeves and shoulders on pretty much everything.
It’s a really easy trend to tap into, whilst adding a subtle statement to your look.
A cashmere sweater is top of my shopping list for the AW collection at Whistles.
The fabric is just so luxurious and makes an everyday sweater feel special. I’ve just bought our new hiking boots too, so I will be stomping around in those all winter, and teaming both with our bias-cut silky skirts or our tailored trousers.
