Frankie Dean’s style icons
Edinburgh College of Art graduate Frankie Dean, is about to appear at Graduate Fashion Week. We caught up with him before the show to talk style.
Who are your style icons?
Grace Coddington [the flame-haired Creative Director of American Vogue] and Agyness Deyn [model turned actress and BFF of designer Henry Holland].
What’s been your biggest ever fashion faux pas?
I quickly realised I should never wear white because I just can’t keep it clean!
Who would you most like to dress and why?
I would like to dress people like Tilda Swinton, Erin O’Connor, and Hannah Martin. I admire their fearless approach to style – they dress for themselves, nobody else.
Which designers do you admire?
My work is informed by designers like Comme des Garçons and Dries van Noten.
What’s next for Frankie Dean?
I’m interested in moving into more print and textile development to pursue my interest in challenging how to use colour and line.
