Four places to dine out this month
Tasty seafood and a brand new rooftop terrace on the Grassmarket is giving us serious summer vibes this month. Here's four places in Edinburgh we're excited to try...
1. East Coast
Whether you’re partial to grilled mixed seafood, fresh rock oysters or a fish supper, you’ll find plenty on the menu at East Coast in Musselburgh. The Crolla family turned their beloved Coral Reef fish and chip shop into this new seafood and grill restaurant at the end of last year and they’ve done a great job. 171-173 North High St, Tel: 0131 665 2079, eastcoastrestaurant.co.uk
2. Philly's Edinburgh
Located out in Edinburgh Park, just a few minutes south of the Gyle, Philly’s has undergone a huge transformation since the days of the old Ritz bar and grill. The new eatery now serves an assortment of burgers, pizzas and sandwiches and an express lunch menu for £6.50, Monday to Friday. There’s also a cool hanging garden for after work drinks. 2 Lochside Pl, Tel: 0131 297 4778, phillysedinburgh.com
3. Umi Japanese Cuisine
This sushi and Ramen restaurant in Stockbridge is getting great reviews for its authentic tasting food. Open for lunch and dinner, expect homemade Ramen, priced from £9.90, sashimi, nigiri, maki and sushi rolls in a relaxed atmosphere. 18-24 Deanhaugh St, umiedinburgh.com
4. Cold Town House
Located in the former site of the Robertson Memorial Church in the Grassmarket, this brewery, bar, restaurant and rooftop terrace is a great spot to enjoy a pint, watch sport or take in some impressive views of the castle. You’ll also find authentic, artisan, stone baked Neapolitan pizza on the all-day food menu. 4 Grassmarket, coldtownhouse.co.uk
