Amy Falconer discovers the ultimate Sunday lunch at One Square
Sittting comfortably at our table overlooking Edinburgh Castle, we’re encouraged to take our time and help ourselves to the vast array of gorgeous looking food from the Sunday Lunch buffet. For starters, there is everything from a build-your-own salad station to and array of tempting options including prawn cocktail, pate and charcuterie. Leave enough room for the mains though because there’s a perfectly cooked hunk of sirloin or honey glazed ham just waiting to be carved. If you want chicken, fish or anything else, just say, they’ll make it for you. Then there are endless sides: think potato dauphinoise, in fact any kind of potatoes; veg galore; and enormous fluffy Yorkshire puddings. I got carried away and went back three (yes, three) times.
Desserts are as impressive with delicious miniature chocolate brownies, panna cotta, treacle tart and cupcakes. There’s also a cheese section, ice cream cart and DIY popcorn station. This must be one of the city’s best kept secrets and all for just £29 per person. Go, fill-your- boots, and make time for a nap afterwards. You’ll need one. Sunday lunch is served from 12.30-2.30pm.
One Square Edinburgh has teamed up with Sparkle Arts to offer families a stress-free Sunday lunch with the launch of a brand new Kids Club, keeping your wee ones entertained and you free to tuck in. Win, win!
